N Scale train layout 36″ X 80″ w/ Superior Paper & Kraft Mill & Glacier Gravel

This is an N scale model railroad. I found this layout in “TheTrain.org David’s world of N-Scale. While most of the trackage and some of the buildings are the same, the simularity ends there. All of the scenery is new and some of the internal buildings are new to the layout. Currentyl two trains are running in DC mode simultaneously, one has sound which can be heard in the video. The layout will be converted to DCC in the near future. This video was captured on my Verizon Blackberry on 8/26/2010 and runs for about 7-1/2 minutes. I’m retired and do model trains as a hobby. This layout took about a year to complete as a part-time project. Everything is still pretty pristine. I haven’t aged the buildinds, trains and layout yet. I’m “N_ScaleGuy” on Twitter. I’d like to hear from train modelers & share train videos.

This is my N Scale layout I have no DCC my scenery is very basic and I have no timeline other than all my stuff is fallen flags mostly Great Northern.Does anyone know how to make atlas switches quiet so I don,t get the loud buzz click??,or is that nature of the beast??Ahh yes the particulars. The table is 3ftX7ftx6ft LI made it from what I call presentation board. It is 1/2 in thick foam board with a heavy paper backing and a paper/foil front and is extremely strong.Where to get it ??I don’t know I found it in a dumpster. This stuff is very rigid and holds track nails very tight making mind changing very easy. Well enjoy all cheers, jeers and suggestions accepted.

  1. @rpscsx Thanks for your comments. Being new to N-scale i needed some ideas for a layout and found the website thetrain.org from which I modeled this layout. I made significant scenery changes to my own liking. I pretty much followed the track layout on the website but used Atlas switches to facilitate the electrical. I’m currently getting the layout to run on DCC. I have a couple of deisels with decoders that also run on DC. One has sound at the moment.

  2. ver nice layout im building an n scale layout on a door. I like you track plan very cool

  3. @ronrouleau Looks good anyway.

  4. @macdogq Actually the trains were running very close to N scale speed but the Blackbery’s camera seems to record at a slower rate than the actual speed causing the video to go faster when running on You Tube. I may try to record usung a Fine Pics camera to see if it can closely replicate the actual speed.

  5. Woohoo!! N scale going Lionel speed.
