N Scale – Train-Nerding I

Getting my N Scale Kato Unitrack layout mocked up for some scenery. I’m aware the local and timeframe of my trains don’t match and I don’t really care. Model Railroading to me is all about what trains look cool or interesting. I’ve got tons of track but this setup is basically the Master 1 Set with the V5 Inner Oval, V7 Double Crossover, the unfinished V2 Single Viaduct, and then (2) V12 Double Viaduct Packs for the outer passenger car track. I’ve got the Double Automatic Crossing Gate functional now and I’m waiting on the accessory power supply to get the 3-way Signal working. I’m waiting on more buildings before I make a final layout. Kato’s office buildings and the Viaduct Train Station are on the way now. I’m trying to decide if I should switch to a larger table or keep it compact on this drafting table. It’ll probably end up on two longer folding tables.

    FEMA trains!!

  3. It is Nickel-Silver. It’s really nice but I think it depends on what you’re going for. I’ve seen unitrack used on detailed layouts and it looks ok. If you’re a good modeler I think you’re better off going with regular track/bedding. Can’t beat it for it’s ease of clicking together though.

  4. Love your layout! How do you like the Kato Unitrak? Would you recommend it? Is it Nickle-Silver? Thanks!

  5. LOL japan high speed train passing American Amartrack funny.

  6. The starter packs are brilliant! I just purchased an M2 set a week ago, and they are so easy to set up.

  7. Hey cool thanks I hadn’t seen that yet.

Kato are the best N scale trains hand down. They are the smotthest trains you’ll ever run, and are overall very good!

The starter packs are great. You’ll be playing with your trains right away. I like the Kato power supplies. I run 4 of them now.

This is great stuff. I’m planning starting an n gauge layout and have been impressed with the kato stuff. How highly would you recomend a starter pack?

Fantastic! I am a fanatic of Kato Unitrack. I like the originality of your video. I really like the Kato structures and the Dennys restaurant you have on your layout. This is totally cool!

  21. Looks like an ad for Kato

  22. there is something that relaxes the mind when you watch model trains. my grandfather was a model railroader and i spent alot of time working on his layout. its where i learned the skills i use today when i build scale rc cars and trucks. the model railroaders were the original masters of scale. really cool layout you got there.

  23. Like your focus and your layout. The hobby is Model Railroading, not just Protypical Model Railroading. I’ve come to appreciate the hobby for the way one can uniquely mold it ones own desire and outcome.

  24. like the passanger trains and the crossing singnal

  25. nice, but i prefer the old roadbed and ballast method for track
