Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie PITA ‘N’ Scale Trains #1
I spent two days reactivating a long neglected N scale layout in my train room. So small. So hard to see. It’s a wonder I got it running at all! The ‘G’ scale stuff is nowhere as tough to get ready to run. Here are a couple of short videos of todays session which I think may be a record for N scale as it ran continously for over an hour without a single derailment!! Really makes me appreciate my G scale layout!

More Info at www.FPVpilot.com . California Southern Rail Road N-scale train layout being run in First Person View. Train operator sits in dispatch room as train is run by viewing monitor. Layout is a double decker in a 16×22 room and run with digitrax DCC system. The camera is on a amtrak passenger train making it’s way from Corona to Fallbrook.

@tmccash Hi Tony! I had no idea you were into trains. Get your ass up here!
I had an N scale layout when I was a kid that was about that size. My Grandfather built it out in the garage. It was two loops with switches and trestles and a tunnel that went around a little town with a park in the middle. I loved that thing. Spent hours and hours out there just watching it run. I love the ozone smell that it made. Ah memories.
@taylatimer I really don’t know as I came by the layout as is and have since sold it. All I can say is that the table measured 5′ X 3′. Hope that helps.
what size radius curves do you use on this layout?
you have an awesome layout! nice race between amtrak trains haha. what kind of camera did you use?
Great job! You did really awesome job, can tell you are quite serious about your layout. Wish I had you around when I did my layouts back in the late 80′s! Great!
That was fun!!!
i have a n scale lay out but its alot smaller =(
Great layout, wow!!
never knew N scale could look so 1:1…..
slow it down for more realism.
Wow, it look so real.
A big thumbs up on this nicely done video! Cool perspective from a cab view. The layout looks like an award winner with the beautiful scenery work.
Wow I was sure it was HO scale. Looks pretty good for N scale. Really sensitive acceleration and deceleration!
you can put a fpv cam on a train i know
you can put it on a r/c car or truck or plane
an boat but on a train
Code 83 track would have looked more to scale.
Thanks, It took about 8 months to get it up and running. I have since moved to another home and it’s now being rebuilt as a single level. I hope to get a new video up soon.
That layout is awesome man! How long did it take u to build it?
How fun!
Next time head into a mirror so that we can see how you did this.
Is N scale half HO scale?
Thank you.
there in the middle of salt flats lol
lol…that was good.
as the train roared across the land, they came upon a land without any color!!!! no brown in the mountains, no green in the grass, just white. The passengers inside started to worry. lol thats an awesome layout!!!
Awesome vid, I love N scale!
I just rode across the continent aboard Superliners a few weeks ago, seeing them on your layout I was imagining myself in the windows looking out at the camera, ha!
yeah it’s fun to drive by the video feed. Layout is in my garage and the monitor is in another room. I’m thinking of doing a layout that is for video driving only. Drive trains around from the engineers seat just need to finish the signaling first.
I get most of my video gear from HobbyWireless (dot) com.
Kato outlet..man your lucky. Track keeps deforming from the weather changes. Maybe a steel layout next time… lol
I’m HO, but I had no idea N was so detailed! Please tell us what cam did you use and how much was it. Also is real time vid feed to a monitor or store.
I went to a Kato outlet in Japan and it was awesome what they had on display.
You forgot that Tomix isn’t bad either….and they have the sweet train cam too.
Sweet layout, but the trackwork needs a bit of work, it’s banged out too fast maybe, but the modeling is nice.
Great post.
I love the way the Superliner vehicles look.
Awesome work man!
